Welcome back,at last a game. Albeit its a pity we had to play the league leaders after such a long lay off. it must be said we were short on playing personnel today with Cannan Solomon and Josh Parker both unfit for this crucial fixture.
On what was a good pitch Langley went behind very early with a free kick from outside the area that found the top corner, very unfortunate as we should have been awarded a free kick ourselves just prior to theirs which was not picked up by the referee.
City kept up thier pressure on Langleys goal, but some fine keeping from Max Tilley kept them out, alas it finally came, a raid that brought out a great save from Tilley only for the ball to find its way to a city player outside the box, who in turn lobbed it into an empty net.
Chelmsford edged the first half with some slick football, but Langley had two great chances that fell to Luke Henry who failed to convert. 2 -0. H/T.
Chris must have thrown a few teacups in the break, Langley came out a different team causing City more problems than before the break, it became a more even match with end to end football.
No excuses but perhaps the our srength in depth came home to roost today.
As mentioned earlier a tad unfortunate to meet the league leaders after such a long break, although City have played three games prior to this match and thier extra sharpness did show.
Hopefully with an up to strength team and some matches under our belt we may be able to pick up from where we left off prior the Xmas break. Well done lads good second half.
MOM: Max Tilley.
